What's with LRT nowadays??!!

This morning I was all geared up to go to work, full of motivation. Bukan senang nak bersemangat macam ni...but entah kenapa pagi ni rasa bersemangat pulak. Dalam otak dah merancang-rancang kerja apa yang nak dilakukan first thing in the morning.

Tetapi, setiba aja di LRT station, di tempat menunggu LRT, rasa frust sangat2. The sight of lots of people queueing up in a 'snake line' has given indication that LRT is undergoing technical problem. This is second time LRT buat hal dalam bulan ni! What happened to the so-called efficient and improved Malaysian's public transport?! Don't they have maintenance program or something?!

Rasa cam nak jerit je.

This is the second time in a month yang I'm late for work, and it's all because of the train. I've got tonnes to do in the office so the last thing I wanna do is late to work. Bengang je!

Yang buat menambahkan rasa sakit hati ialah the announcement. "Train is having technical difficulties...We apologize for the inconvenience cause..." Again, and again, and again, for the umpth time.

"We would advise you to take other mode of transport. Rapid KL buses....bla..bla..bla.."
I don't have alternative transport, ok?! Kalau ada pun, I kena lompat2 bas baru sampai office and by that time, I might reach later than if I were to take LRT. The only other option I got is for my father to chauffeur driven me to the office, but he was on his way back to our house after sending me to the station, and he doesn't have any handphone for me to call!

Rasa cam nak jerit lagi.

And my tummy started to growl from hunger. I haven't eaten my breakfast. Ishk...
And this line that I chose, tends to be the slowest moving line ever. Apalah malang nasib ku hari ni...

After one hour waiting, I'm no longer playing Mr Nice Guy. The next train that comes I'm gonna try my very best to squeeze in it. So, I did it. Squeeze and squeeze till all the molecules in body cramped together. You have to have this super power of squeezing and transforming yourself into Cicakman/Spiderman so that you will be able to melekat kat pintu LRT. Seriously, at that point of time I didn't care what the others in the train are saying bout me. I was hungry and my sole was aching after standing up for too long (kalau shopping tak sakit pulak kaki ni) and I hate waiting! So, be it!

Finally, I've reached my office...and supposed to be doing my work, but instead I blog.

Anyway, I just want to voice out my frustration on our public transport nowadays. I don't know what went wrong but lately not only Putr@LRT but other form of transportations are also having technical problems quite so often. A lot of people is depending on public transports as their main carrier to their destinations. Especially in the peak hours like in the morning and evening after work. Takde ruang untuk buat silap pada masa ini. Public transport companies should at least increase their maintenance schedule. Oh, probably they have...but still...Tension tau kalau kena macam ni! Selalu pulak tu!

Oklah, guess I've released all the anger and frustration within. I need to start working. Full stop.

huh!i thought public transportation service dah upgrade, but still di takuk lama, dulu puas la i rasa mcm u,zaman2 menapak naik bas metro, bas lambat, bila sampai jampacked with ppl inside,berhimpit2,kdg2 dpt naik kdg2 tak dpt(slalu gak dpt naik tp setakat tangga jer, pastu layan angin kena kat muka hihi) n masa tu i rasa bestnya kalau boleh naik lrt/komuter & train2 yg seangkatan dgnnya, but sama jer rupanya tahap efficiency dia, cess!i thnk gov shud do something, dok promote suruh rakyat naik public transport to avoid massive jem la,economical reason laa,tp with this kind of service, patutla ramai org prefer naik transport sendiri-hubby i pernah ckp kat uk normal staff ke,manager ke,ceo ke sumer prefer naik tube/underground,sbb sgt efficient and it's a normal scenario overthere-i rasa mcm lama lg utk kita sampai ke tahap mcm tu jby udging the way they conduct public transport service, and mayb kita kena suffer massive jem kat kl ni utk duration yg lama sbb ramai org akan prefer utk drive sendiri drpd naik public transportation yg tak efficient-sabar raf,i feel 4 u sbb i dulu pun slalu start my day dgn menyumpah public transportation hihi

if you look back few years ago when lrt systems was under STAR and PUTRA, the service was even worse.

that was why the government (that time still under Tun) took over the management of these 2 companies and integrate not only lrt systems but also bus systems. then gov set up prasarana to manage the assets i.e. trains, buses, stations etc. the next step goverment took was to set up the operator of these assets that is now rapid kl. rapid kl operates bus & lrt systems from previous operators (star, putra, park may, intrakota). in other words, rapid kl has to start the revamp process from 'a'.

if you sit down and compare between previous operators and current operator (rapid kl) in terms of quality of buses, service etc, no doubt rapid is way way better. and they only took over for only 2 years and we see a lot of improvement.

technical glitch here and there sometimes cant be avoided but i am sure they are trying their utmost best to serve the commuters. do ever compliment them when there is no interuption? when we get to office safely?

infact, before we complaint we should first take a look at ourselves. do we potrait the right attitude, the right 20th century mentality when we expect first class public transport system that we have currently? for instance, do we queue properly when boarding trains or bus? do we sit at designated seats (most of us use seats meant for handicaps)?

fr my experience when i used lrt 3 or 4 yeras back, when people start squeezing in even though lrt doors are closing, it caused system interupption. when a train fail to close its doors, it cant move, subsequently stop longer at station. since 30 over trains r operating on the same track in the system, delay of this one train would delay the entire train system. imgine if the 'squeezing in' happen at half of the stations.....

the question now is, i believe, how to educate these people to appreciate and use these public systems with the right attitude and mentality....how can we expect 20th century system when our thinking is still way way behind?

Takut pulak nak reply comment lebih2 coz org rapidkl ada tyerbaca entry i ni...hehehe..anyway:-

mommamia: I ingat sgt zaman bus mini tu. Mmg mencabar kena sengayut kat atas tangga! Oh yeah, in developed countries, people prefer public transport to driving. Kira standard tak jatuhlah kalau amik bus or tube kat sana...Kat sini, taktaulah bila nak sampai tahap tu. Education and Civilisation std pun masih banyak yg perlu diupgrade...

Fina : Sket punya marah kau..Tapi mmg betul pun! Aku rasa KL ni dah overpopulated sgtlah. Jalan sesak, public transport pun sesak. The so-called org kenamaan mmg takdelah nak merasa apa yg kita rasa. Dahlah jam tak ingat punya, tetiba ada pulak neenoo neenoo suruh kita ke tepi, like how to ke tepi in such a massive jam! Hish!

Haariz's mom: U mmg cool! Takdek punch-card bolehlah buat camtu yek. Yang I ni, nak kena clock-in clock out cam budak sekolah...

Mr anonymous: Sorry sir! I understand your views. And thanks for your input. Kalau nak diikutkan mmg byklah improve in our public transport esp the buses. But there's too much propaganda saying that the gomen is allocating quite a huge sum of money to increase the efficiency of public transport. Even the increase in oil price dulu pun they use the reason nak improve public transport. Thus, the expectation of the public is very high nowadays. Pasal mentality, not queueing and what not, I can see lots of us are queueing nowadays esp at station yang ramai org like jamek, klcc etc. But ttg himpit2 tu sampai pintu terbukak lagi skali tu mmg adalah. Somehow I feel that's because there's too many people in the lrt, and for those waiting, nak tunggu another one coming and ensure that they get a seat, kekadang lama. So, kalau ada ruang sikit je, they'll squeeze like crazy. Some stations if they don't do like that (like Dato' Keramat or Setiawangsa), sampai sudagh takkan dapat masuk LRT. I don't know about buses coz I tak penah lagi naik the buses. But the service does look good.
